AS MAYOR I WILL:

  • Support continued record investments in our Roanoke City Public Schools

  • Celebrate the opening of the new Excel Center at Melrose Plaza, the first adult high school in Roanoke (a collaboration with Goodwill Industries of the Valleys and Roanoke City Public Schools)

  • Support exploration of a new Arts and STEAM Magnet High School in collaboration with the Jefferson Center and Roanoke City Public Schools

  • Support Workforce Development Training initiatives through Roanoke City Public Schools, Higher Education and the Greater Roanoke Workforce Development Board

  • Historic $106 million investment of city’s budget to support Roanoke City Public Schools

  • Opening of the DayTec CTE Center expanding high school workforce development to two high school campuses

  • Purchased the Roanoke Times Building for the new Roanoke City Public Schools Administration and Operations Center

  • New Preston Park Elementary School (underway)

  • Expansion of Breckenridge Middle School and Morningside Elementary School

  • New Excel Center (Adult High School) at Melrose Plaza
